Favorite Things

Movies

  • Braveheart - Jamie’s all time favorite. There is simply no more powerful or symbolic movie out there.
  • The Matrix - Just the coolest movie ever. Deep and cool effects. Really just the first one, then next two weren’t that good.
  • Office Space - Maybe the funniest movie ever. So full of subtle work-related humor that we find new things to laugh at every time.
  • Life as a House - We just saw this wonderful movie recently and were deeply moved by it. It’s all about learning how to truly enjoy your life.
  • The Princess Bride - An all time classic. Just fun to watch over and over.
  • Star Wars (the orginal ones) - The Star Wars movies have to be on any person of our generation’s favorite movie list. Grand, adventurous, and fun these movies are a great escape.
  • Antwone Fisher - We were moved recently by this great movie about the power of family.

Restaurants

  • JaK’s Grill - Our favorite place. A great steak at a great price. We keep trying to find something there that’s not fabulous. (Issaquah, WA)
  • Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse - The best steak anywhere. Pretty pricey, but great food and great service. Don’t forget to top it off with some Crème Brule. (Nationwide)
  • Pen Thai - Crazy good Thai food in Downtown Bothell.
  • Pappadeaux - The best Cajun-style seafood around. Really all the Papa’s restaurants are great, but Pappadeaux is our favorite. (Texas only)
  • On the Border - Homemade tortillas and great fajitas make this one of the best Mexican food places around. Holly is also in love with their ribs. (Nationwide)
  • The Original Pancake House - The best place to get breakfast on the Eastside of Seattle. You must try the Dutch Apple Pancake. (Kirkland, WA)
  • PF Chang’s Chinese Bistro - The best Chinese food we’ve ever had. We are addicted to the Mongolian Beef here. (Nationwide)
  • Tully’s Coffee - Not exactly a restaurant, but still our favorite place to get a cup of joe. Yes, it’s even better than Starbucks.
  • Cyclone Bar-b-que - The best bar-b-que anywhere. It’s worth the drive out to this family-style outdoor restaurant. (Cyclone, TX)
