Daddy Daughter Dance 2011

Last weekend was the time for that uniquely suburban invention: The Daddy Daughter Dance. I like to say it’s basically an hour and half of cardio in a suit.

We set up the mini studio in the house again this year and got a some fun pictures. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Halloween 2009

Halloween is one of the rare occasions where I take pictures of the kids at the same time every year. As I was looking back at pictures from 2005, 2006, and 2008, I was definitely having one of those, oh-my-gosh-they-grow-up-fast moments.

Grady was the Hulk, Abbey was a Princess, and joining the crew (as always) was my nephew Austin the Spooky Ghost, and newest Nephew Hunter as a very cute bear. Enjoy:

Fun With Off Camera Flash

I’ve a little bit of new camera equipment to build up my photo game. I’m trying to get better with light. I’ve been inspired by a website called Strobist, that’s all about using off camera flash to light your pictures. I took some fun shots, mostly of the kids, and figured it was time to share. Enjoy.

We continued our tradition of trick-or-treating with Andy and April this year. We had a great time raiding their neighborhood for candy. Austin and Grady were old pros, and Abbey figured it out quickly.

Family Portraits

My brother has become quite a photographer. At Thanksgiving we had him take some portraits of us and loved the results so much we handed out many prints as gifts. I finally put them up for all to enjoy.

First Words, First Bed

This week was one of those weeks that made you say, “Our kids are growing up so quick!”

Abbey is 7 months old now. She can’t get enough enough of all the solid foods she’s eating, and just loves to sit up. She’s just getting so big. But this week she topped it off with starting to say, “Da-Da-Da-Da.” Those words just melt my heart.

She’s just such a sweet and easy baby. We’re even more thankful for that this week because Holly and Grady have been sick. It’s been tough, but I think we’re about through it.

Besides sickness, the other tough (but wonderful) thing that happened this week was that Grady moved out of his crib. Wednesday at nap time we here a big thud upstairs, following by a wailing cry. Grady had finally gotten motivated enough to climb out of his crib, and hit his face on the way down.

He was fine, but we knew it was time to move him to his “big boy bed.” We immediately took down the crib (so he wouldn’t be tempted to climb back in), and got him settled in a twin bed we already had in his room.

It was a tough transition for him, a scary new environment to sleep in — all while his sickness was making it hard for him to sleep anyway. But last night, he did great! He slept all the way through the night.

We’re so proud of both Grady and Abbey. We couldn’t have asked for better kids. It is such a blessing to be their parents… even on tough weeks.

Halloween 2005

Grady and his cousin Austin had a grand time tonight raiding the neighbors for candy. Grady quickly learned that “Trick or Treat” are magical words that get you candy from anyone you say them to, even the other kids he met on the sidewalk.

Grady was Tigger, Austin was a monkey, and Abbey was a pumkin. Everyone had a great time and we even got to meet our new neighbors. Check out all the photos.

Abbey Two Months

Our sweet little girl is already two months old. Our friend Angel was in town last weekend and took some new pictures of her. We know, we know… She’s beautiful.

Abbey One Month – New Pictures

As of yesterday, Abbey is officially one month old. She is thriving — growing like a weed and becoming more alert everyday.

She starting to get a little meat on her bones, too. That’s good because we like our kids to be a little chubby in our house. Enjoy some new pictures of Abbey and Grady.

Nanny is Here

Grady and Abbey’s Nanny (aka Jamie’s mom, Sherry) arrived this evening for a two week visit. We excited to have both Grandmas here for a few days.

By pure accident, she got here just in time for Holly’s baby shower. It was scheduled for June 24th, but somebody pre-empted that. Once again we are blessed with so many people celebrating Abbey’s birth.

Abbey’s One Week Birthday

Thanks to all who have sent sweet congratulatory emails and left comments on the site. Abbey is blessed to have such love and encouragement from the start.

Life is going pretty well in Wallace household. Abbey sleeps a lot and is nursing very well when she manages to wake up.

Many of you have asked how Grady is doing with the transition. He’s doing great. He’s very gentle with and concerned about his little sister. He’s always willing to go get a diaper, or to do anything else he can to help with her. He’s had a couple of tough days this week, but we think that’s mostly because he’s teething.

Jamie went back to work on Monday, and Holly’s mom is still with us. She is an amazing help. She leaves in a week, then Jamie’s mom gets here for a couple of weeks. After that Jamie will take a couple weeks off work. We’re hoping that will give Holly plenty of help from the transition from one to two kids.

Holly’s managing well. She is bouncing back much more quickly from this delivery than from Grady. It’s tiring, and her body is still adjusting, but she still gets a silly grin every time she looks at her girl.

All in all we are really struck with how blessed we are to have had such an smooth delivery, two beautiful kids, and so much support from our friends and family.

She’s Here!

Abigail Lila joined us at 1:14 PM. She’s absolutely georgeous at 7 lbs 8 oz, and 20 inches long.

Her mom did an amazing job, pushing her out in just 7 minutes. Both are perfectly healthy. Thanks for all your prayers.

The Joy of the Epidural

It’s about 11 am and Holly has progressed to 4.5 cm. Besides that meaning she’s making good progress, it means time for the epidural.

She just got it and has a big smile on her face everytime she has a contraction that doesn’t hurt. She’s also had some potosin, which is helping things along.

Shouldn’t be too long now…

Houston, The Water Has Broken

Holly’s water broke at 3:15 this morning. No major contractions yet, but we’re having a baby today!

Mom is Finally Here

Mom flew in today so we are ready to have this baby! She left around 2:30pm from San Angelo, flew to Dallas and made it to Seattle by 6:30pm. It was a long day but she made it here in one piece. Parise God for momma’s who are willing to come and help out – I feel so blessed to have her here. We will post again when we have more news.

We went to the doctor on Wednesday, and there was no big news. Still 1.5 cm dilated and 75% effaced. Meanwhile, all three of us are trying to get over being sick. Looking forward to a restful weekend. More news when there is some.

21 Days & Counting

Abigail is defiantly on her way! Jamie and I went to the doctor’s office today and found out that I am 1 ½ cm dilated and 75% effaced. This is not an indication of when Abbey will be here (sooner or later) but that she is for sure coming =)

All is well, I am HUGE and very ready to have this baby. It is only 20 or so more days until our due date and I couldn’t be more ready. Today a very sweet friend of mine came over and helped me paint Abbey’s room. It is a soft color of yellow and I can’t wait to fix it up just for her.

We will fill you in more as we get news next week of our progress. Until then . . . Lord willin and the water don’t break!
